FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
North Branford, CT, February 7, 2018

Awards to five fellowship recipients of the 2018 Mead Leadership Program will be formally announced this Friday during the awards ceremony of the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (NECTFL), taking place in New York City.

For the eleventh consecutive year, SANS Inc. Software and Network Solutions is a corporate sponsor for the Mead Program. SANS is a U.S. based company and leader in the development of instructional technology for language learning.

The Mead Leadership Program supports foreign language teacher-leaders by recognizing their potential to contribute to the improvement of world language education. This scholarship is provided to assist an individual in the development of a project that contributes to the foreign language teaching profession and advances quality language instruction. The Mead program was created to develop future leaders for the profession at the state, regional, and national levels.

This year’s Fellows are Gina Gallo and Amanda Robustelli-Price, representing the Connecticut Council of Language Teachers (CT COLT); Dr. Celia Chomón Zamora, representing the Greater Washington Association of Teachers of Foreign Language (GWATFL); and Kerilyn Bristow and Elaine Leibly, representing the Vermont Foreign Language Association (VFLA).

“SANS is pleased to continue our support for NECTFL and the Mead Program,” said SANS president Ron Remschel. “Congratulations to all of this year’s Mead fellows. It is truly an honor to be chosen for this scholarship. We applaud their dedication to the language teaching profession and wish them much success as they move forward with their projects.”

“For the last two decades, NECTFL’s Mead Fellowship Program has nurtured dozens of world language educators who have become leaders at the district, state, regional, and national levels,” said Nathan Lutz, 2018 Mead Fellowship Chair. “We are extremely proud of their accomplishments and are grateful to SANS Inc., for their unwavering support of growing leaders who make a difference in the learning outcomes of students at all levels.”
